Boy! Can someone say dumb? and I'm not even a blond! My Grandmother, Ella Myrtle
Cessna was born May 19, 1874-died Nov. 24,1966--born Colrain Township, Bedford, Pa.--her
Father, was William Wesley Cessna--born Nov. 22,1836--died Jan. 21, 1920, also Colrain
Township, Bedford, Pa. I have Howard Cessna' second book on the Cessna line--he
indicated he married when he was about 50 yrs. of age--in that book he has some data from
a man from Belgium who was searching for the Cessna line for Howard--so hoped if he had
any children, they might have any further data he had obtained--I have been trying to find
a list of the Huguenots who fought with Duke de Shomburg at the Battle of the Boyne--so
far no luck--has anyone found a website with a list? The Belgian who was doing the work
for Howard indicated the "a" at the end of the name was really not French--would
more than likely be an "e". Went into a families' website one night (have it
in my notes) that indicated they had some data ou!
t of Germany (so checked for my German line)--also had and Alsace-Lorraine so went on
it--it had a place where you could pull up data from 1539-1898 on names in France--tried
de Cessna--nothing--remembered that one of the early Cessnas' had signed a will (I
believe) John Cesne Cessna--so tried De Cesne--nothing--tried Le Cesne and found the name
in Calvados, Eure, Manche, Oise, Orne, Seine-Maritime--indicating (in French) the records
were of marriages--apparently all on micro-film--these areas are in the Normandy part of
France--anyway, Rootsweb has added some new pages in France (in both English and French)
that can be checked out. Hope this "book" helps in our searches! Carol H. Dye
