Hello all my mailing lists! This is Danielle Brown,
your list admin. I've recently come across something
weird and I want ALL of your opinions on it.
Okay.... Most of my lists are Hispanic in nature
with the exception of Ryder and Dolan because I am
myself of mainly Hispanic origin. Dolan is my adoptive
grandfather's last name and Ryder is a name on my
husband's side. Okay, now that I've explained this...
let me get to my point....
In my Hispanic research, I've come up with a
surname that is possibly German and or British in
origin. This concerns my 3rd great-grandfather who
spoke fluent German. He married a Mexican lady and had
5 or 6 children altogether before his wife died. Many
(as in most) of their descendants married into Mexican
families while a few others married into German or
other "white" families. The problem I am coming across
now is that many of the branches embrace both sides of
their heritage whereas one branch has been passing for
"white" and denying the Mexican branch of their
family. How do I approach this branch of the family
when trying to get information? I've already had
negative contact with them - they don't return emails
or phone calls or letters. Should I leave them alone
and just leave that branch as it is - very incomplete
and collect what names I can from the death indexes?
I'm at a loss here as I've never dealt with this
before in my family.
Any comments, suggestions, questions, etc from ALL
the lists are wanted.

p.s. To protect them, I did not include the surname or
their names on purpose.
