Part I
The other day the postman brought requested information from Fairfield County, South
Carolina. It was information from page 32,33 from the book, Fairfield Family Histories
(1700s-1982). This book is out of print, but efforts are underway to obtain compiler,
Faye Johnson's, permission to reprint. The following is submitted about six
generations of descendants of Nathan Center (son of Nathan Center and Martha Taylor), for
your information:
1. NATHAN CENTER (17__-1783) married Martha Taylor and their children were:
Elizabeth; *Nathan, John and William
2. *Nathan Center (son of Nathan), 1777-1850, married Charlotte Rives d/o Timothy Rives,
1781-1847, and their children were:
*Thomas Rives Center; James Center; William Center and Martha Center
3. *Dr. Thomas Rives Center (son of Nathan, son of Nathan), 1808-1886, married Hester
Boyd, 1816-1856, and their children were: Marion; Robert Gibbs; Thomas Murray;
*James Nathan; Celia Howard Center; Martha; and Hester Boyd Center
4. * James Nathan Center (son of Nathan, son of Nathan, son of Dr. Thomas Rives),
1854-1935, m. Mary Tallulah Conner ,1860-1937, d/o Rev. Jacob Sylvanus Connor and Mary
Lumplin. The children of James Nathan Center and Mary Tallulah Conner were: Jacob
Sylvanus, *Thomas Marion; and Miriam.
5. *Thomas Marion Center, 1885-1972, married Alma Gertrude Dixon, 1887-1975, daughter of
Tillman Lee Dixon and Mary Mobley. The children of Thomas Marion Center and Alma Gertrude
Dixon were: Marion, Tallu; Mary Lee; Alma; Thomas Marion, Jr.; Miriam; and Katherine.

Tallu Center married William Clark Willingham
Mary Lee Center married James Berry Rhinehart
Alma Center married Wilbur Alexander Poston
Thomas Marion Center, Jr., married LaVerne Geddings
