Thank you for responding. To answer your question, do I know the
father of
Nathan Center, died 1783, S.C, No, I do not. In the History of Richland
County, South Carolina, is says that he came to that state from Virginia
about twenty years before the Revolutionary War, which would have been c.
1756. I have checked some Virginia records but have not come up with
anything that is remotely possible. I think the key will be the land
records in the archives at Columbia, S.C, in trying to establish the name of
his father or at least a shopping list.
Currently, I have a request in to them which has been turned over to a
researcher, hopefully, they will come up with SOMETHING.
Will let everyone know if anything developes. I am very interested in you
number 1 entry, Samuel, born in 1759, in DeKalb County GA.

Wanda,
I think your Nathan Center d. 1783 SC is actually JoNATHAN Sentell d. 1799
SC. His father was Samuel Sentell of Prince George Co VA. Remember that I
said that the Sentell & Senter surnames are used interchangebly in the VA &
SC records. Also if you reread my previous posting Samuel Senter b. 1759 VA,
died in Dekalb Co GA.

WORLDCONNECT-Rootsweb.com ID: I1677
Name: JONATHAN SENTELL 1
Sex: M
Birth: 26 MAY 1729 in Prince George County, VA 1
Death: BEF. MAR 1799 in Edgefield County, SC 1
Note:
Jonathan was born in Prince George County, VA, son of Samuel and Mary
Sentell on May 26, 1729. His birth is recorded in the Bristol Parish
register, as is his baptism on June 6, following. "The Vestry Book and
Register of Bristol Parish, Virginia, 1720-1789, pp. 364,366.
He probably grew up tending tobacco on his grandfather's Hatcher Run
plantation with his father and mother. He had at least one sister, five years
younger than he was.
Jonathan and his wife Ann had at least six children; two girls and four
boys. We know one of the boys, William, was born in 1756 and another,
Sterling, was born in 1775 or 1776.
Sometime after the Revolution and before the first Federal Census in 1790,
Jonathan Sentell moved to Edgefield County, SC. The census taker counted four
people at the home; three white males (probably Jonathan and his sons
steirling and Jonathan) and one white female, no doubt Ann his wife, all
being over 16 years of age. His sons William and Samuel had also moved to SC
by this time with their own families, and though not living next door to one
another, they settled fairly close together, if we can judge by their order
on the census record.
Their holdings were probably in the vicinity of Little Stevens Creek in
present-day northern Edgefield County and Red Bank Creek in western Saluda
County.
Jonathan died before March 1799, the term of court in which his will was
proven. He left nearly everything to his son Steirling and provided a life
interest in the estate for his wife.
