Hello All,
It seems I had erroneous information.
The official announcement from AOL Website
----begin quote---------
Please note: Beginning early 2005, AOL will no longer be providing direct
access to newsgroups. We apologize for any inconvenience.
For members with a separate high-speed Internet connection, we recommend
contacting your service provider to confirm if they offer access to newsgroups.
Newsgroup services from your high-speed provider can be accessed through a
third party reader, such as Mozilla Thunderbird
(
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/thunderbird/). Alternatively, you can access
Newsgroups via Google at
http://groups.google.com/.
--end quote---------
Note that NOWHERE does it say that email or mailing lists
are going to be affected in any way--and they will NOT.
The only thing AOL is discontinuing is the direct
Newsgroup Reader Service which has nothing to do with
email or mailing lists in any way. Usenet Newsgroups and
Mailing Lists are two completely separate entities.
Please direct any further questions on this matter to
the AOLers-RootsWeb mailing list.
