Here is a new puzzle for the crew. My ancestor Timothy Sexton was born
about 1750, possibly in Connecticut. He enlisted in the Army in 1777 at
Morristown NJ and was discharged in 1781 at Baltimore. He married 18 August
1782 in York District SC Esther Sisel (Cecil, Cissel ?). She was born ca 1755
and died in Scott Co TN 23 Jan 1850. Timothy and Esther were in York District
in 1790 (Census). By 1800 they may have been in Elbert Co GA. They arrived in
Campbell CO TN sometime before 18 May 1808. They moved to Morgan County along
Brimstone Creek (later Scott Co) in 1819. Esther may have been related to a
John Gee in SC.
Big Question: Is Esther a Cecil or is Sisel not one of the myriad Cecil
variants? and has anyone found her before in the context of her parents,
siblings, etc.? My descent from this couple is through their eldest son
Timothy Sexton Jr m Nancy (Ellis) then Robert (Robbin) Sexton m Salina Keeton,
then Artema Sexton m Riley Cecil, then Clifford Cecil & Elizabeth Keeton,
then Harrison Leonard Cecil m Clara Mae Phillips, then Mary Helen Cecil m
Walter B. Morrow, then me.
