Is anyone missing a grandmother?
Greenville Messenger, Greenville, Hunt County, TX, Friday, 14 Sep 1900,
page 3:
"Jim Cecil of the Liberty community, accompanied by his grandmother,
Mrs. J. C. Newman, late of
Pennington Gap, Va., were pleasant callers at this office Tuesday
forenoon, the latter ordering the
MESSENGER sent to her three sons whom she left behind. Mrs. Newman has
been here only a few
days, but is very favorably impressed with the country, to such an
extent in fact that, as she states,
she has no desire to return but will make this her future home and is
very anxious to have her
children, who are all grown and have families, to avail themselves of
the advantages offered by this
productive soil and healthy climate. Although more than seventy years of
age Mrs. Newman is very
active and an interesting conversationalist."
