Hi there, thanks for the reply. I had read about the Cecil's of England
when I was a teenager. It would be interesting to know if I descend from
them, but I haven't got anywhere near finding that out yet. I don't even
know who my Cecil ancestor that crossed the pond. I haven't been able to
find anyone in my direct Cecil line past my great-great-great grandfather
Philip from Maryland. The Maryland land grant idea could possibly be a
false lead, but that's really all I have to go on since I can't actually
research in person in Maryland (I live in Florida right now). Also,
purchasing birth and death records from the Maryland Archives is so
expensive, I have to save my pennies for that. :) Eventually, I will get
copies of what I can, so maybe I will find some new names and places that
will help me further my search. I need to find out how to search military
records in London as well, maybe I will find some info there. Thanks for
the help though. :)
If anyone else might know or have heard about an American land grant given
to a Cecil, please reply to this post or email me at eyre_jamie(a)hotmail.com.
Thanks in advance for the help!
