Melissa, Donna and Penny, Thanks for your help.
It very well could be James Whitten [I have him as Witten in my FTM for some
reason] and HIS Rebecca Cecil., But the dates and places seem to be a little
off.
For those on the list who have Whitten- Witten connections I will explain
a little......
Several of my close friends in Central Florida have Whidden-Whiddon
relatives [or even names]--- so many that I decided I would see how [or IF ]
they are all related.
A Fellow who has a Whiddon Home Page
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~elw827/index.html
Edwhiddon(a)aol.com directed me there and in the course of finding
9 generations for one of our best friends, [Whiddon, Whidden,Whitten and
even one Witten spelling]
I came across a CECIL much to my surprise.
James W. Whiddon, b. about 1770 Edgecombe Co NC , moved 1788 to Darlington
County SC. HIs first son James W. Jr. born 6/20/1790 in Washington Co Ga.
He seems to have some solid information on this James Sr, whose wife was
said to be
Rebecca Cecil..-----.no dates or places for her though. [must have been
married abt 1789 and
therefore probably b. abt 1773 if her son's birth year is correct.]
In looking through my FTM,. I was surprised because of all the fine CECIL
folk you-all have
provided me I can't locate a single Cecil family from GA.???? must have
been one at least.
My husband's Cecils for several generations are all from Maury County TN -
all descendants
of Samuel Cecil b. 1784 Montgomery Co Va, d. 1856 TN. [m . Sara Brown]
He had a sister Rebecca N. [ I show her b. abt 1789 and m. to John Ingram]
but she appears to have died in Ohio with all the rest of Samuel's siblings
and his parents Zachariah and Nancy Ingram Cecil.
Well ,will keep looking.
Meanwhile, Have a fine Holiday Season.
