I am trying to find anyone with data on Annie Drayton CECIL, b. Mar 1847 Columbia, SC; d.
4 Jan 1915, Chicago, Ill. She married Francis X. HOLBROOK, b. 5 Dec 1844, Baltimore, MD;
d. 19 Feb 1927.
Supposedly John H. CECIL, b. Nov 1805 England or SC; d. Oct 1865 and Mary DRAYTON, b. 6
Apr 1811 SC; d. Mar 1847, where her parents. The Holbrook children were all born in
Maryland.
I have not been able to find any data for either John or Mary or their parents. Family
stories have Mary a direct descendant of Wm Henry Drayton (SC).
Francis & Annie HOLBROOK (according to family tails) were the ones who place smallpox
signs at the DRAYTON plantation, in Charleston, SC, during the Civil War to spare it from
being burned. A member of our family had the original marriage license of William Henry
Drayton and Dorothy Gollightly and returned it some years ago to the Drayton Historical
Foundation in Charleston.
