JOHN CECIL
(1690-1759)
The preceding pages seem to confirm that the John Cecil who married
Elizabeth Sollers in 1718 was the
son of William Cecil.

Note: This name, written by a scribe, for an illiterate man, and copied into
the
records of Maryland, presents a puzzle. See discussion of this at the end of
the

On 26 Jul 1750 Samuel Cecil of Prince George's Co. was granted 50 acres of

issued
for 60 acres called Cecil's Chance in Conococheague Manor [in what is now
Montgomery Co.]
on the north fork of Maple Branch which runs into the southernmost fork of
Bennett's Creek about 2 miles above the new Wagon road that leads to
Frederick Town (Annapolis, Cert. Y 6L s, No. 7, 155). On 5 Jun 1753 this
land was
conveyed by him to George Clark (Frederick Co. Rent Rolls, 3, 27).

Suzy,
I am researching my Cecil line from Samuel Cecil (b. about 1719 in Maryland)
and Rebecca White. I am very much interested in filling in as much
information as possible. Can you tell me who was the father of the James
Cecil who married Susan White?
Thanks very much,
Toby Jean Manker

My husband's gr. grandfather, Miles V. Cecil, is one of the
children of
James
Cissell and Susan White. He was born 19 Sept. 1838 in KY. He married
Louisa
Ann Roberts in Clark Co. MO in 1867 and died here in Escondido, CA in
1928. I
have other siblings but not the parents of James or Susan (White)
Cecil. I
have
searched long and hard for the information. I'm going to Salt
Lake City to
research the first week in March. Any ideas for research regarding this
couple
would be welcome.
