I just don't know for sure.
There is so much misinformation out there.

Randy... hello again.
You wrote in answer to a query about OUR Willam.....
Proposed parents of William.....
<<<<2. John CECIL(b.c.1635 d.6-Jun 1698) who m.c.1664 Mary SHIRCLIFF. This
John was the son or Sir Thomas and Susan (Oxenbridge) CECIL. Is this the
same John as the prior one.>>>>>>
Do you think THIS Sir Thomas was the one known as "the Engraver" ???
If so did his son John marry both a Calvert and a Shircliff?
and if not, is EITHER Sir Thomas thought likely to
be the son of Thomas Cecil ,Earl of Exeter , first born of William Cecil
Lord Burghley, prime minister to Elizabeth I.?
Some one long ago told me it seems likely that Sir Thomas and Susan
Oxenbridge were Grandparents of our William [ though I don't recall it being
through a son named John]
But another person thought that Susan O's husband Thomas was "the
Engraver"--- although the dates I have for him : [1578-1662?] don't
encourage that view, since the Map of the Maryland Colony was done in 1638-
when this Thomas was already 60- if these dates are correct. Come to that,
he would have been 57 when the son John above was born, although Susan,
[born 1617?] was only 18 in 1635.
I know it is mostly speculation but wondered if I have the right dates for
this Sir Thomas and Susan [or anyway the same as YOU have] and if you know
about any connection to "the Engraver?"
Thanks.,
