Proposed parents of William.....

John was the son or Sir Thomas and Susan (Oxenbridge) CECIL. Is this the
same John as the prior one.>>>>>>
John Cecil of St. Mary's County and Mary Shircliff were NOT the parents of
our William.
John Cissell (aka Cecil) was born in England, transported to America in
1658, and died June 6, 1698, in St. Mary's County. He left a will naming his
wife Mary and children William, Thomas, Richard, Robert and Edward.
John's son, William married married Catherine Joyner. He owned 50 Acres of
"White Acre" and 100 acres of "Long Neck" in St. Mary's County.
Also 60
acres of "Scotland" in the New Towne Hundred. He had at least 8 or nine
children:
William, Arthur, Luke, John, Margaret, Ann, Matthew, Elizabeth and Clare.
He died about 1744 and his will was probated on Nov 1744. He is NOT the
same person as the William Cecil of Prince George's County.
The Cecils of St. Mary's County and Cecils of Prince Georges County were two
entirely different families. They "may" have had some connection, but if so
it was not a close one.
The link of Wm Cecil of PGC, who died in 1749, to England is not proved.
There is no link to the John Cecil (Cissel) who immigrated in 1658. These are
well documented people.
I don't know why this data keeps going round and round---everybody keeps
quoting things without asking about sources.
Good luck in your researches everybody!
