Yancy, Thank you for your response, yes this is my g grandfather, and yes he
lived in IL though he returned to NC where he died and is buried with his
2nd wife. I will check out these schools and see if any have records dating

Subject: Re: [Cecil] Methodist Minister in NC
Hi: Linda: My g-grandfather was Samuel Alexander Cecil b1828
d.1894. His brother
Oliver G. married Christina Elliott they had a son named Samuel
Alexander b1851
d 1934. This must be your g-grandfather My records show he was
married twice and
lived im Ill.. Supposedly he was named after his uncle Sam A. b.
1828 d1894.
I woud suggest that he may have received his education at:
1- Yadkin college established 1865 moved to High
Poin
NC 1924
now High Point University.
2-Elon Collge near Burlington NC (now Elon
Univ.)
3- Trinity College close to High Point NC (
moved
to
Durham NC & now
part of Duke Univ.
Hope this may help. Yancey Cecil ,High Point NC,
