Hello List:
I am trying to find any information on the following CECIL's.
Ernest Walpole CECIL, b. bet 1844-1848 Baltimore, MD, married Elizabeth F.
NASH July 1870 at St. John's Church, Baltimore. She was born in Virginia and
her father was a judge. He was held as a prisoner by the Union Army on a
ship in New York Harbor during the Civil War. Was later an attorney int the
Baltimore area. He entered the U. S. Naval Academy at age 15 and when his age
was discovered was expelled.
Annie Drayton CECIL, b. 18 Nov 1846, Baltimore, d. 4 Jan 1915, Chicago.
Married Francis X. HOLBROOK (b. 1844, Baltimore, d. 1927, Mich.) 14 July
1870, St. John's Church, Baltimore. The family ultimately moved to Chicago
and the HOLBROOK family were long time residents of the Maryland/Virginia
area. She was the sister of Ernest.
The parents of these two were John Henry CECIL, b. Nov 1805 (Eng. or S.C.,
supposed to be related to Robert CECIL, 6th generation of English nobility),
d. Oct 1865. Supposedly went back to England at outbreak of Civil War as he
did not want to see brother killing brother. He married Mary DRAYTON, b. Apr
1811, S.C., d. Mar. 1847. She was supposedly a descent of William Henry
DRAYTON, but have not been able to find her parents or exact place of birth.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
