The variant spellings I usually keep in mind are Ce-, Ci-, Cy-, Sc-, Se-,
Si-, and Sy-. Amazing how often we find them Sysall or Scissle like the
estate entry we missed in Ohio for 10 years under Seisle. In computer
searches don't forget the Ciss"el" and Ciss"le" ending. Some you
just have
to keep searching to find like Csill or Csell which I've found. Around 1850
when the German form of "L" was similar to "S" we find ours Lissel
just as
often as Sissel. The double "ss" at that time will be indexed "sj" or
"sg"
or "gg" or "ff" or"pf" as Cijsle etc. Donna

Thanx, Donna. I should have known to check for variant spellings of
"Cecil." BTW, has anyone compiled a list of such variant spellings?
