Hello!
I am searching for information on the parents of Anna H. Cecil (Russell) born in or around
Carlyle, Clinton, Illinois in August 1877. On the 1880 Census she is listed as the adopted
daughter of Martha (Durbin) Cornelius. I did some search and discovered that at least 3
members of the Durbin family married into the Cecil family. Harriet Durbin married
Lawrence Cecil, Anna E. Durbin married Noah Cecil, and Richard Stephen Durbin married
Helena Cecil.
At first I thought she might be the daughter or Harriet and Lawrence, but have since
disregarded that possibility for various reasons. My most recent theory is that she might
be the daughter of Anna and Noah. Anna E. Russell died in Jan. 1878 in Illinois, so
perhaps her husband gave Anna H. to his sister-in-law in Illinois to raise. But they are
theories.
I have it where she died in Elgin, Kane, Illinois in July 1940 and is buried in Chicago. I
am hoping to find her obit and maybe the "truth" would be on there. Or maybe
there is something more to the story.
Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!
Ashley
