Jan,
I have no record of Isaac Payne or St. Jerome's Thickett. However there was
a piece of land in St. Michael's Hundred (1704 Rent Roll, Rent Roll 7,
13-15)
called St. Jerome's - 5700 acres surveyed for William Coursey in 1658. This
is located sort of on the SE side of St. Mary's County on the Chesapeake
Bay. I also note that just to West of that land on the other side of the
current St. Jerome Creek there was a property called Paine's Range - 50
acres surveyed in 1667 for Thomas Paine.
I have some interest in Alberta in that my part of the Cissell family
eventually
moved from St. Mary's County to Kentucky, thento Missouri and then to
Ponoka, Alberta.

Hello,
My name is Jan Reilly and i am new to this list. I am researching my
ancestors and it seems all roads lead to St. Mary's County Maryland. I
am looking for the father of Isaac Paine/Payne.
Isaac was born about 1793 in Dorchester MD. and died after 25 July 1791,
in Caroline Co.
My question is Have any of you run across a piece of land called St.
Jerome's Thickett? Is that a cemetery?
I live in Edmonton , Alberta Canada now and research is difficult not to
mention i am green at researching. I have tried contacting family
memebers that have left their email on Message boards but the email
addresses are old or forgotten and I have not heard back from anyone. I
am putting together a handwritten book of my fathers family for my sons.
And everywhere I turn in my research i get to Isaac Payne/ Paine and the
trail turns cold.. Any information or advive is appreciated.
Thank you,
Jan (Payne) Reilly
