TO THE BOARD OF MANAGERS OF Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution, I,
John Webster Jones hereby apply for membership in this Society by right of
descent from John Cissell who was born in St. Mary's Co., Md. on/after 1822.
His services in assisting in the establishment of American Independence during
the War of the Revolution, upon which my claim of eligibility to membership is
based, were as follows: (Service) Private, Third Company, Captain Barton
Lucas, January 20, 1776, Maryland Militia; Private, same company, Major
Mordecai Gist commanding "Maryland Four Hundred," at Battle of Long Island,
Aug. 27, 1776. (Authority) Maryland Archives, Vol. XVIII, p. 9; Maryland
Historical Magazine, Vol. XIV, p. 117. I declare upon honor, that if admitted
to memberhsip in this Society I will endeavor to promote the purposes of its
Institution and observe the Constitution and By-Laws of this Society and
