Montgomery County, virginia, and died 1844 in Virginia. She married JAMES B.
WITTEN2,3 1783 in Tazewell County, Virginia4,5, son of THOMAS WITTEN and
ELIZABETH CECIL. He was born January.07.1757 in Prince Georges County,
Maryland, and died March.15.1831 in Tazewell County, Virginia.

Famous Woodsman, Hunter, Spy, came with his father to southwest Virginia
when he was about 15 years of age. Before he reached majority he was
recognized as the most skillful and daring scout employed by the military
authorities against the Indians, and was employed as a scout from 1794 to
1796, operating in the vicinity of Witen's Fort which was located near
present day Tazewell court House, Tazewell County, Virginia. In 1783 he
married his cousin Rebecca Cecil, daughter of Samuel Cecil. from "Early
Families of Eastern and Southeastern Kentucky".
