This book follows the descendants of William Greenup
[d. ca 1712 MD] into the 20th century. To determine
if your family line is included, you may contact me
at the email address at the end of this message.
To Greenup descendants:
Many of you know that I have continued collecting
information about the Greenup family since
publication of GREENUP WITTEN CECIL in 1989. Since
late summer of 2001 I have been gathering
information from sources such as the US census, SS
death index, Bureau of Land Management, state and
county records and placing it with the appropriate
families, attempting to identify all the Greenups
found in these and other records adding it to and
correcting the material found in the Greenup portion
of the above named book.
Now the manuscript is just about ready for
publication and I have to make a decision as to how
and by whom it is to be published. An established
publishing company can print, sell and distribute
far cheaper than I can do it privately charging only
the cost of the printing. Before I started working
on it, the publisher who has done all my Maryland
books agreed to publish it. He does only paperbacks
in the size 5-1/2 x 8 and I wound up with too much
text for that format.
So I started checking with another publisher and
this is what I have come up with: The most cost
efficient size is 8-1/2 x 11 and this other
publisher is willing to do it either in paperback or
hard back depending on pre-publication sales and I
am willing to re-format the manuscript to that size.
The publisher is willing to send out a mailing to
determine if there are enough people interested to
make it feasible for him to publish it, but I am not
in contact with enough people to even make up a
mailing list.
Here are the quotes I was given:
HARDBACK: Pre-publication price $28; after
publication $36
Provided there are 150 pre-publication sales
PAPERBACK: Pre-publication price $18; after
publication $24
Provided there are 90 pre-publication sales
[Shipping and handling $3.50 plus $1 for any
additional copies for both hardback and paperback]
I would appreciate knowing if you are planning to
purchase a copy of the book and if you can send any
names and addresses of other who might be
interested.
