Hello Don & Melissa,
Early last year I sent you an email in an attempt to trace the abovcenamed
(my GG-Grandfather). You were kind enough to supply me with some useful
info as to the family as a whole. I tried to trace his death and marriage
in Hong Kong where he worked as a civil servant for many years, only to be
told that the Japanese had
destroyed all BDM records during the last war. My grandmother was born in
Hong Kong on 16.07.1861.
I am now going to try to search for him "downwards" from known Cecils,
partly basing my searches on statements of my mother's family as to Cyril
descending from nobility, probably a "youngest son of a youngest son" as
one Aunt put it to me.
What I am looking at is the following;
James Gascoyne-Cecil aka; Second Marquess of Salisbury b. 1791 England D.
1868 who married Frances Mary Gascoyne. b. 1802.
James was married a second time to,
Mary Catherine Sackville-West aka; Countess of Derby b. 1824 d.1900.
Of that second marriage there were 2 sons and 2 daughters born between 1840
and 1865.
Therefore I would like to search for the names and BMD particulars of the
lastmmentioned 2 sons.
What I would like very much is for you to recommend a reliable genealogist
in the UK with some experience in the Cecil family who could do this
searching for a fee.
Best wishes,
Bryan Kenna,
