I compiled the CECIL book from family records, old news clippings, photos,
cemetery, marriage, census records, etc. The children of Joseph Walter
Cecil included John W., Henry Clay, Mary (Jones), Josephine (McCloud),
Gabriella (King), Aurelia (Stull), Susan (Harris), Charles M., Naoma and
Virginia. Which one is your ancestor?
Joseph Walter Cecil died before 1880 and, by the 1900 census, there is no
record of his wife Hannah Brown Cecil. I have not found a cemetery record
for Joseph or Hannah.
In addition to Charles M. & Olive Cecil, other family members buried in the
Partridge Cemetery include some of Henry Clay Cecil's family. Aurelia Cecil
Stull had family members buried in Arlington Cemetery in Reno Co. KS. John
W. Cecil have family buried in Woodville Cemetery in Adams Co, IL.
I found Wilford Cecil's obit on microfilm at the IL State Archives in
Springfield.
Cecilia Cecil Phipps' obit read in its entirety as follows: "She was born
near Frankfort KY January 6, 1829. When she was six years of age, she moved
with her parents to Knox Co. IL. When a young woman, her parents moved to
Adams Co. IL. Mrs. Phipps was raised a Catholic, her parents being very
devout Roman Catholics. Mrs. Phipps was a member of a family of fourteen
children, all of whom except two lived to be grown and raised families of
their own. Mrs. Phipps was twice married. When quite young, she was
married to a Mr. Nelson. To this union was born one daughter who died in
infancy. She was united in marriage to Cornelius L. Phipps December 24,
1854. To this union were born ten children: Helen, Laura, Edgar, Louis and
Jessie who died in infancy. The other five are still living. When a young
woman Mrs. Phipps left the Catholic Church and united with the
Congregational Church at Bowen IL. In the summer of 1904 Mrs. Phipps
attended the tent meeting at Skidmore (MO), conducted by Elder Chilton and
was converted to the belief of baptism by immersion."

Do you know where I can find the book you mentioned other than the library
at Quincy. I believe I have traced my father's family back to Joseph
Walter Cecil and I would be interested to see if I have the correct
connection.
Also I've been trying to find where Hannah Jane Brown (wife of Joseph
Walter Cecil) died and was buried. I have her last living in 1880 in
Plenvo, Reno County, Kansas with one of her sons Charles M. Cecil (he is
buried with his wife at Partridge Cemetery in Partridge, Reno County,
Kansas).
I would also be interested in locating the obits that you mentioned. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
