Subject: Re: FW: Looking for all Cecils-Zachariah Cecil
Dear Gail, my name is Bill Purcell/Sacramento, Calif., and I do have some
CECIL ancestors. Like you I am having a terrible time tracing them before
1860's in Baltimore, MD. What I have is as follows:
1. John Henry CECIL, b. Nov 1805, England (poss. S.C.), d. Oct 1865, Eng? He
supposedly went back to England at the start of the Civil War. He also was
supposed to be 6th in line to Sir Robert CECIL.
He married Mary Drayton, b. Apr 1811, Charleston, SC., d. Mar 1847 (location
unk). Married about 1840 possibly in S.C. (Charleston). They had two
children:
1. Annie Drayton CECIL, b. 18 Nov 1846, Charleston, S.C., m. Francis X.
HOLBROOK in Baltimore, MD. (this is the line I descend from)
2. Ernest Walpole CECIL, m. Elizabeth NASH in Baltimore, her family was from
Virginia, and her father was a judge.
The problem with all of the above subjects is I have not been able to verify
any of the dates or places they occurred, except for the marriage of Annie
D.
CECIL.
Q. Do you have any info on a John Henry CECIL?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Bill Purcell
