Dear Mary Jeanne.. I have the book on the Wittens Cecils and Greenups. It is
a great source for our family tree. Glad to get your info on the Gates of
Glory...I started all of this when my 2nd cousin who died 2 years ago at 102
sent me 200 YEARS OF CECILS IN AMERICA which when she had it was over 50
years..My dream was to bring that information into the present as much as I could. I
got a few of the twigs done but as you well know, it was like the rippling
effect when you cast a stone into the lake..I wanted to be able to help all
Cecil searchers, but the info on the web has done it for me. So lately I have
been working on my father's line and have been quite successful considering I
had little or nothing to go on... I have even gone to Maine and found his
father's destroyed homestead and my kissing cousin who I met on the Internet found
my ggrandfather's homestead after we left...So I guess I need another trip
up...Interesting....Keep on searching... Gail
Gail, I found one of my research family trees and Thomas and Nancy Grayson
Cecil had a daughter named Nancy born June 30 1794 and she married Jeremiah
Early.John Grayson was born 1790. These are th other siblings,Samuel
Cecil,Mary,William Wirt ,Rebecca,Gordon,James Sollar,Eleanor,Letitia.Thomas
was in the American Rev war. He and Nancy died in Ohio. Their is a Cecil
Cemetary in Polaski co Virginia which was near old homestead and John Grayson
and his wife Elizabeth Wygal Cecil are buried there. This is near methodist
church named for Cecils .The book call Gates of Glory give names of my family
who is buried there.John Grayson's name is also listed in many other books.Go
to Google .com and put the name of John Grayson Cecil in and under the ref
you will find the cecil line which is very long but you will find probably
what you want. I have found it is easier to start with the earlier Cecils and
work to present. The Old Guthier Place is still standing which in Virginia
and this is where John Grayson was born.Thomas sold log cabin to Guthier
(Spelling) I will be happy to send you any info taht would be helpful, most
mind is family who has done alotof Geneology. The Books that have my family in
them are library books you can't check out. Some of the books cost around
700.00 dollars. Hope this helps and do you think we are in the same family ?
