This is in reply to the following two e-mails which I received today from Curt CHERRY
(curtcherry(a)hotmail.com) today.
See the following report:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/i/l/Susan-E-Tilleman/GENE16-...
I show your wife's gr.-gr.-grandmother Sally CARLOCK who m. Charles ISHMAEL to have
the following lineage:
Hans GERLACH
David GERLACH/CARLOCK
Frederick Cornelius CARLOCK
probably Henry CARLOCK/CURLOCK/KERLOCK
George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK
Henry Alexander CARLOCK
Sally CARLOCK
I am also descended from George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK. My lineage from George W.
CARLOCK/CEARLOCK and Rachel LANDERS is as follows:
George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK
Abraham CARLOCK/CEARLOCK
John Henry CARLOCK/CEARLOCK
James Robert "Robert" CEARLOCK
Joseph Edward "Ed" CEARLOCK
Claude Abner CEARLOCK
Voris Carney CEARLOCK
Rex Duane "Duane" CEARLOCK
Susan Elaine "Sue" CEARLOCK
Garey CEARLOCK whom you mention is my first cousin, once removed. His father Dale Edward
CEARLOCK was a brother to my grandfather Voris Carney CEARLOCK. Garey's e-mail
address is: gandc(a)internetcds.com
The information about Henry CARLOCK/CURLOCK/KERLOCK which links our CARLOCK/CEARLOCK line
with the rest of the CARLOCK family is relatively new. So far I can only place Henry
between 1782 and 1790 in Rutherford Co., NC. His name also appears in a 1787 Mecklenburg
Co., NC, court record where he was awarded money for the orphans of Rachel LANDERS's
grandfather Christopher LANDIS. I do not yet have proof that Henry was either
George's father or Frederick's son, but all evidence points in that direction.
As you may already know, all descendants of George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK and Rachel LANDERS
are also distant cousins of President Harry S. TRUMAN through Rachel's LANDIS and
GOODNIGHT ancestors. See the following report:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/i/l/Susan-E-Tilleman/GENE11-.... See
Generation 11, Person 1028 Christian/Christopher LANDESS/LANDIS/LANDYS, and his 11
children. President Harry S. TRUMAN was a direct descendant of Mary LANDIS/LANDERS and
Hans Michael "Michael" GUTKNECHT/GOODNIGHT. Furthermore, the Catherine who m.
Mary LANDIS/LANDERS's brother Henry, our direct ancestor, is believed to be a daughter
of Hans Michael "Michael" GUTKNECHT/GOODNIGHT and his first wife. In the same
report, see Generation 11, Person 1030 Hans Michael "Michael"
GUTKNECHT/GOODNIGHT, and his 8 children by his first wife. For Harry TRUMAN's
lineage, see the following site:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~rwguide/presidents/
I would welcome any additional information that you may have to contribute with regard to
your line from Charles ISHMAEL and Sally CARLOCK.

Subject: Cearlock Family in Illinois
Sue,
I see you have done a lot of research. My wife is a descendant of the
cearlock (Carlock) family. Dorothy Binnion (nee Courtright) is her
grandmother. Dorothy's mother was Nettie Ishmael. Nettie's mother was Sally
Cearlock. Sally's parents were Henry A. Cearlock and Lucinda Merriman.
Henry's Parents I believe were George C. Carlock and Rachel Landers. Does
this concide with what you have? I found someone else on
ancestry.com that
had this info in there tree as well as you. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Curt Cherry

Sue,
You should probably have this. The other email I sent you refers to Garey's
work/findings. I was passed a family tree that Garey Cearlock created. Do
you know how to get a hold of him? Any way read the following.
My wife's grandmother, Dorothy Binnion (nee Courtright) born 31 OCT 1923,
was a daughter of Robert Courtright and Nettie Ishmael. I see that his
information stops at Robert and Nettie. They were both killed in a car
accident in 1955. But their daughter is still living in Dupo, IL. I have
more info for you if you like. I am also curious about any progress you may
have made past George C Carlock.
Let me know and talk to you soon.
