Seeking ancestry of David CARLOCK (1805 - 1843) who migrated to Sangamon Co., IL, early
1820s, probably from Simpson Co., KY. David married Frances "Fannie" HARMON.
Frances b. Oct. 16, 1805, NC; d. June 20, 1874; bd. Berlin (aka New Berlin) Cemetery,
Island Grove Township, Sangamon Co., IL.
Some members of this family, including Fannie, appear on the 1850 census, Sangamon Co.,
IL, with their surname spelled "KEERLOCK."
Can anyone confirm whether or not this David CARLOCK is the same individual as the David
CARLOCK whom I have listed in the following report as s/o John CARLOCK and Elizabeth, b.
Oct. 16, 1803?
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/i/l/Susan-E-Tilleman/GENE18-...
John d. 1833, Simpson Co., KY. Elizabeth d. after 1845, probably Montgomery Co., IL.
Within the above-mentioned report, I have David's lineage listed as follows:
Hans GERLACH
David GERLACH/CARLOCK
Hanchrist CARLOCK
Lemuel CARLOCK
possibly John CARLOCK
David CARLOCK
Note that I have the word "possibly" before the name of David's father John
in the above-mentioned report. See the following archived posting for additional
information regarding why I question whether or not John and the Joseph who is also listed
as Lemuel's son were sons of Lemuel CARLOCK as mentioned in the book "History of
the Carlock Family," by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929:

Descendants of John's grandson Luther Carel/Carol CARLOCK/CEARLOCK (s/o George) used
the surname spellings "CEARLOCK" and "CURLOCK," and can be found
primarily in Oklahoma. This might explain the spelling "KEERLOCK" in the 1850
census, Sangamon Co., IL. I am descended from a second, much larger, line of CEARLOCKs
descended from George W. (or C.) CARLOCK/CEARLOCK who m. Rachel LANDERS, 1805, Warren Co.,
KY, migrated to the Fayette Co., IL, area, and can be found on the 1860 census, Montgomery
Co., IL. The surname CEARLOCK is pronounced like "CARELOCK." The following map
shows that Warren Co. and Simpson Co., KY, are located next to each other:
