Cearlock
DECATUR -- Jack K. Cearlock, 67, of Decatur died unexpectedly 6:28 a.m. Tuesday (October
22, 2002) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 6
to 8 p.m. Thursday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes and one hour before services in
the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: St. Paul's Lutheran
Church.
Mr. Cearlock was born Sept. 18, 1935, in Hagarstown, the son of William H. and Gladys
Hicks Cearlock. He had been employed as a meatcutter for 38 years with Eisner and later
at Jewel Food Stores, at several grocery stores in the Decatur area, and retired when the
Cantrell Street store closed in 1994. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church
and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union 1540. He attended antique sales,
auctions, and rummage sales. He was an antique car enthusiast. The 1940 Ford held
particular interest for him. He enjoyed walking his Pekinese dogs every day. He also
enjoyed old movies, especially Gene Autry westerns. And especially, he loved his family
very, very much. He married Gertrude H. Bombal on Dec. 9, 1956, in Augsburg.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years; son, David Shawn Cearlock and wife Katrina of Decatur;
daughter Angela Cearlock of Decatur; sister, Genevie Schnetzer of Blue Springs, Mo.;
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon LaVerle Cearlock; sister,
Marjorie Wright; and brothers-in-law, Dale Schnetzer and Orville Wright.
