"Velma M. Carlock Ishmael Stout
November 26, 1911 - January 2, 2008
Velma M. Carlock Ishmael Stout, 96, of Pana, died Wednesday, January 2,
2008 in Heritage Manor-Pana. She was born November 26, 1911 in Pawnee,
IL, the daughter of William Henry & Sarah Catherine Brown Carlock. Velma
lived most of her adult life in the Pana area. She worked at the
Ammunition Plant in Illiopolis, as well as in the dress factory in
Shelbyville and Mattoon. Velma enjoyed sewing, crocheting, beadwork, and
any kind of hand work. She loved her flowers, reading, and especially
her family.
Velma married Walter Ishmael, and to this union, two children were born.
They were later divorced. Velma then married Fred M. Stout on March 4,
1935 in Ramsey. They were parents of six children.
Velma is survived by her daughters: Pearl Lewis, Centerville, TN; Izola
Mae Law & husband Duane, Taylorville, IL; Joann Witt, Pana, IL; and
Elsie Patrick, Pana, IL; 15 grandchildren; and several great and
great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents;
husband, Fred M. Stout on November 21, 1982; son, Frank Ishmael; 2 sons
in infancy; daughter, Melissa; and 11 brothers & sisters.
... Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2008 in
McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Martin Eden
officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, rural Ramsey.
Friends may call Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at
McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
