Tracy Cearlock
Tracy Cearlock, age 84, a life long resident of Batavia, passed away on
Sunday, June 18, 2000 at the Provena Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora, following
a short stay within the hospital.
He was born December 14, 1915 in Pana, IL, the son of Claude and Audria
(nee Carney) Cearlock. He was united in marriage to Sarah J. Wafford on
February 21, 1941 in Pana, IL. Tracy was a World War II veteran serving
in the Southwest Pacific theater with the Army 25th Infantry Division as
a heavy machine gunner squad leader. During his tour of duty, he participated
in many major campaigns which historians have documented. He was awarded
the Presidential Unit Citation Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star for his
contributions. He was a life time member of Batavia VFW Post #1197.
He is survived by three children, Monica Susan of Morris, IL, Marcia (Terry)
Taylor of Batavia and Steve (Patricia Stammet) Cearlock of Statesville,
NC; two brothers, Forest (Marge) Cearlock of Pana, IL and Ross Cearlock
of Roseburg, OR; eight grandchildren, Tim Taylor of Decatur, IL, Tamara
(Mike) Duvall of Naperville, IL, Lacey, Jenise, Kelly and Jim II Susan
of Morris, IL, Brian and Scott Cearlock of Statesville, NC; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah
Cearlock; brothers, Voris and Dale Cearlock; and by his sister, Madge Cearlock-Eason.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM on Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at the
Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home in Batavia. Funeral services will be held at
1:30 PM on thursday, June 22, 2000 at the Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home with
the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Interment will be at West Batavia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Make
a Wish Foundation for children with life threatening illnesses at 640 North
