Dianne:
Clarence CEARLOCK was a first cousin, once removed, to your father Jewel CEARLOCK. The

Montgomery Co., IL, and his first wife Melvina Peradine VIRDEN (1858 - 1883). James
Robert (s/o John Henry, Abraham, George W.) was a great-grandson of George W.

Your lineage is as follows:

I am also descended from James Robert, as are several other subscribers to this list. You
and I are second cousins, once removed, with our most recent connection being James's
son Joseph Edward. I am also originally from Decatur, IL, but now live in suburban San
Antonio, TX. My lineage is as follows:
James Robert "Robert" CEARLOCK
Joseph Edward "Ed" CEARLOCK
Claude Abner CEARLOCK

As I have mentioned to you in previous correspondence, I have a photograph on my home page
of the family of Joseph Edward "Ed" CEARLOCK and his wife Mary Elizabeth HICKS,
as well as a couple of photographs of their children. James Robert, James's third
wife Izetta HICKS (sister to Mary), Ed, and Mary also appears on my home page in a

I am pretty sure that Clarence Cearlock attending some of my family's
reunions when I was a child. My dad, Jewel Lammers Cearlock, knew him
and called him a cousin. My aunts, who were younger, seemed just a
little acquainted with him and did not appear to know just how they were
related. Since the Clarence Cearlock who came to the reunions was from
Decatur, I believe that he was the same person referred to below. Can
anybody confirm that?

My uncle, Clarence Edgar Cearlock, was born March 24, 1898, in
Edinburgh, IL,
the second child (and first son) of James Otis and Minnie May (Carter)
Cearlock. He was married March 8, 1917, to Ona Catherine Williams. He
spent
most of his life in Fayette, Christian and Shelby Counties in Illinois
as a
Southern Baptist preacher. He went to live with his daughter, Hazel
Muirhead
in Lexington, Ky. after retirement and died in Lexington, KY on June 22,
1986.
If I can be of further help, let me know.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the Clarence CEARLOCK found in the
Social Security Death Index, b. 25 Mar 1898; d. Jun 1986; a railroad
worker who lived in Lexington, KY, is the same person as Clarence E.
CEARLOCK (s/o James Otis, James Robert, John Henry, Abraam, George W.
CARLOCK/CEARLOCK who m. Rachel LANDERS), b. ca. 1898?
