ODESSA - Jackie D. Hampton Sr., 68, passed away Monday, May 31, 2004, at
his residence in Odessa after a lengthy illness. He was born August 29,
1935, in Seagraves, Texas. He married Jimmie Grace Cearley on December
16, 1955, in Lovington, N.M.
Mr. Hampton grew up in Olney and Mathis, Texas. He was a diesel mechanic
for over 45 years. He dearly loved his family and all of God?s
creatures. He also enjoyed having breakfast with his family and friends
at the ?Blue Bird? Cafe and he loved a good joke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Daisy Hampton;
brothers, Andy and James Hampton; and his sister, Sue Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jimmie Hampton of Odessa; son,
Jackie D. Hampton Jr. and his fiance, Phyllis, of Odessa; daughters,
Schylet Davis of Brownwood, Texas, Susan Hampton of Midland, Texas, and
Natalie Horton and husband, Michael, of Odessa; two grandchildren,
Dennis Graham of Austin, Texas, and Thomas Grant Templeton of Brownwood,
Texas; and sister, Jean McWhirter and husband, Don, of Houston, Texas.
The family appreciates the kindness and care given by Dr. Michael
Shelton, Dr. Nam Kim, Dr. Alan Leshnower and all of their staff. Jack
also had many friends that he dearly loved and will be missed by many.
The family suggests memorials to The American Heart Association.
The family will receive visitors at 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004,
at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at
Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
