Promoted to 1st Sergeant. Mustered out 26 June 1865, at Cloud Mills, VA. Was commissioned
2nd Leuitenant on 17 June 1865, with rank from 22 April 1865. Was also listed in record as

I have been researching Fernando, as he died 23 December, 1876, here in Kalamazoo,
Michigan. His occupation was listed as "blacksmith". He died of Consumption
(Tuberculosis). (Info from Kalamazoo County Death Records, County Clerks Office)He was
originally buried in Potter's Field in Riverside Cemetery. The Grand Army of the
Republic Post No. 79 records indicate that he was moved from Potter's Field to the
Civil War Veteran's lot about 1892. He currently has no headstone. I would like to
obtain one from the Veteran's Administration, but need letter of authorization from
Fernando's family. If you are related to him, I would like to correspond with you, so
that we can mark his grave.
Hope to hear from you soon.
