Hello All,
The multitude of information coming in is wonderful.
Thanks to everyone for sharing!
My personal choice would be my husband's Gr-grandfather,
who arrived in the USA in the 1860's. I would love
to hear, directly from him, why he chose to leave
Prussia - - and, why he decided to later leave Niagara
County, New York, in favor of Macon County, Missouri.
And, oh how interesting to hear him tell of his time of
fighting, with the Union, in the War Between the States.
If he was given the land in Macon County, Missouri, in
return for his service, we are not aware of it.
Like many of us, who are researching our K-L-R lines,
I'd love for this man, Christian Friedrich Wilhelm KOHLER
(KOEHLER) (COLER), to tell us if any of his family members
also immigrated to the USA. If they did, where did they go?
He seems to have come to America without any family.
And, it seems that his mother may have already been
deceased when he came. Is that the case, Christian?
How interesting the visit would be!
