Heuring / Keller / Saxony, Weimar
Researching the family of Jacob F. Heuring Sr. b. May 18, 1806, was born
to
parents who’s names we have been unable to locate, married Johanna
Elizabeth Keller b. April 4, 1810 who’s father was John Keller and who’s
mother’s name is unknown. An 1880 census tells us that their parents were
also born in Weimar, Saxony. Jacob and Johanna were married somehwhere in
Germany in 1826, the first six of 13 children were born in Germany as well.
They migrated to the U.S. through Bremen or Hamburg to Baltimore somewhere
between 1836 – 1839 . Unfortunately the ships records are not available in
Baltimore (possibly lost in fire.)
The family may have lived in Baden, Baden at some point before their
departure.
We have traced the Heuring name, through internet research only, the
earliest back
to Weiden, Oberpfalz in 1465 but have no more info on that
specific person.
FOKO has listed a few Heuring’s ranging from 1465 –

My weak point being able to utilize this information in order to further
the
research.
We also have another major branch of Heuring’s living in America, separate
from the
Jacob and Johanna line, whom the similarities are “uncanny” His
name is John Georg Heuring was born in late 1790’s and listed as being born
in Bavaria along with several other members of the large family.
We also came across information regarding the Weiden connection. This
is a
translated version of a specific house and the owners in Weiden whom are
Lorenz, his son Hans and his wife Sabina Weissmayer Heuring
1531 - 1572 (?) Lorenz hay ring, then its son Hans, married 1572 Sabina
Weissmayer.
1581 marry the widow Sabina hay ring the Gastgeb Jakob Weigl,
the house belonged until 1616 it 1616 - 1630 Paul Wagner, Baecker 1630 -
approx. 1650 councilman Clemens Weissmayer 1653 widow of the Clemens
Weissmayer marry mayors Johann carpenter, it become new owner. 1680 - 1688
Dr. George cabinet, physician 1688 - 1729 family of the Tuchmachers Daniel
Mayer 1730 - 1739 Urban Mayer, Rotgerber and councilman, gest. 1739, the
house fall to his Mrs. Anna Maria, geb. Schober. 1750 go it a second
marriage with wolf Josef Roemerer, hold the house to its death 1761 alone.
1780 - 1822 son Andreas Roemerer, meat hacker master. 1822 purchase by its
son Felix, 1831 transition to his sister Viktoria and their married man
Leonhard deer man, butcher. 1853 buy deer man of its wife their portion and
are now sole owner, gest. 21.5.1855. the house sells 19.7.1860 the widow
Viktoria at Viktoria (sic!) Dobmeier. !
The nut/mother of Viktoria Dobmeier is born deer man. Viktoria,
which
originates from Vohenstrauss, marries the butcher master Josef Weih from
Pressath. The married couple dies 1905 and/or 1906. The next owners are the
buyer max of Weih and the buyer max of Binapfl (already 1910 in the
directory). 1926 appear in the directory of the wood dealers Johann steel as
an owner. 1932 Margarethe steel, brewing master wife from Pleystein is house
owner. It is proven still in the directory of 1954 as an owner. 1957 appear
there the Gastwirtin Anna steel as an owner. End
For clues:
It is interesting to me that Jacob Heuring was apparently born in
Weimar,Saxony on
May 18, 1806 just a few months before the Battle of Jena and poses
the
question of the possible military ties of his father.
The Heuring family has always held strong religious convictions as well
and the the
FOKO site shows an interesting split between Evangelist &
Catholic.
Apparently (family rumor) Jacob may have been kicked out or asked to leave
Germany
because he kicked a statue of the Kaiser into the river. He was
very bitter towards the German government.
Through studying the events and timeline 1832 (Jacob at 26 years of age)
from the
time of the Hambacher Fest “cradle of German Democracy” event,
which we have indication the family may have been in Baden at the time, up
through the family’s 1836 -1839 immigration, it very well could be Jacob was
feeling the pressures of decent and struggling with family welfare.
Desperately attempting to tie all this together and any thoughts,
direction for
further research or connections would be greatly appreciated.
