Hello Everyone,
(Hallo)
No matter how you spell the surname, our Christian F. __________
emigrated from Germanic Europe in about 1850. The most common
ways that we have found his surname are: COLER , KÖHLER , and
KOEHLER . And, as we all know, this is not unusual in the old paper
trail. (There are actually listed some 100 plus ways to spell this surname.)
Christian's wife is listed in the census and on other old papers as
Sophia N. _______ (again, the surname is spelled various ways).
She and Christian were married in 1868 in Niagara County, New
York, USA. Sophia was also born in Germanic Europe. Her maiden
name was probably NEUMANN but might have been NIEMANN.
Again, we face the spelling mess. <grin>
Christian's gravemarker says that he was born 22 Sep 1837. He
died 3 Jan 1906 in Macon County, Missouri, USA.
I have never found proof that I am willing to fully accept as definitive
concerning Christian's parentage or his siblings. So, I will continue my
efforts.
Anyway, my sister-in-law has collected much, much information
on Christian's and Sophia's descendants over her 30 year search. She
has shared all of this information with me. She has no computer, but
we are both willing to share the family information with anyone who
is interested. (As I have time, I am converting her notes into group
sheets, as well as entering the info into my computer.)
