Marie,
Interesting, thanks. I am descended from Elizabeth who was a daughter of
Stephen Thomas Ca(y)wood. She died in 1860 in Somerset, OH. There seem to
have been a few Caywoods that ended up in that area of Ohio.
I am leaving your message in its entirety, and forwarding to the Cawood list
as well.
Most of the lists that I am on automatically send replies to the entire
list. If you hit reply on these lists it just goes to the sender, and not
the list. That is possibly responsible, in part, for the lack of traffic on
these lists. I think that has to be set by the list moderator.

Dick,
I am a descendent of Thomas A. Caywood. Thomas A.- Benjamin M. George
M.-Clarence P. Carolyn. Carolyn was my mother.
I have just returned from a trip to England, where I paid a brief visit
to the town of Cawood. The gatehouse to the old castle still exists and
is in good shape. It is owned by the LandMark Trust and is one of the
places you can rent for a week if you wish to stay in an old castle. To
the right and left of the gate are brick extensions added at a later
date. The portion to the right is said to have held a chapel and a
banqueting hall. It is no longer open to the public.
The Cawood/Caywood family has a history of interest in their
ancestors. They have been reseachers and record keepers of their past.
There is a lot of information on this family and I have found them most
willing to share. It would be good to share through this list. Marie
Nelson
