Kim - Do you know the location of the Cawood Cemetery? We were in Cawood last Saturday
and were able to find the graves of Virginia (Calloway) and Stephen Cawood, Clara Nancy
Cawood, and "son of Virginia and Stephen Cawood" which was broken so we
couldn't find his given name. The cemetery is so overgrown we could not get back any
further. Is this the official "Cawood Cemetery?" Is there a listing of the
graves in this cemetery. A cousin was driving us, so I couldn't tell you exactly where
we were, but we left the Cawood Presbyterian Church and went right on that road, winding
around for a mile or so. We saw the cemetery as we went up a small hill, but there is no
name on it.
I have an old clipping of a memorial service honoring my ancestor Berry Cawood.
Unfortunately, there is no date on the clipping. The service was sponsored by the
Mountain Trail DAR and Rev. Vogel was the minister. We thought there was a monument for
Berry Cawood. Do you know if there is? Or, where his grave is?
BTW, if you are the person who called me several weeks ago, I was mistaken in telling you
that my grandfather James Frank Cawood was sheriff. He was Chief Deputy.
Thanks for any insight into the above.
Mary
