No, I don't have any idea where she was born other than the info from the census that
lists Virginia. I haven't had any luck finding birth/death certificates. The person
at the cemetery where she's buried has been helpful, but I don't think he's in
good health and sometimes he gets confused. Every time I ask about a death certificate,
he just doesn't respond. I think the family was very poor. The girls seem to
"drop" off the census around 12 or 14. When researching my grandmother, I found
her on a census when she was around 14 and she was listed as a servant. When I finally
found the cemetery, I learned that my grandmother's grave was paid for my someone
I've never heard of -- I'm guessing maybe her employer, but I really don't
know. I've always assumed that if the family was impoverished, there may not be as
many records to be found.
