Hi John, I am also a great grandchild of John Benjamin Cawley. I descend through
Claude's brother, John Wilford Cawley. I have a history of John Benjamin Cawley and
His wife Sarah Felt Little written by one of their daughters. Do you have this? If not,
I would be happy to send it to you.
The Cawleys actually came to Utah long before the community of Pinetucky was taken over by
the Government and made into what is now Fort Gordon. They arrived just in time for the
dedication of the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Somewhere in my family is a ticket to the
dedication.
Recent research has let myself and others to believe that the father of James Cawley b.
1800 is probably Reason Cawley of Jefferson county who married Delilah (last name
Unknown). In James Cawley's second marriage to Rebecca (Bettie) Hood he named one of
his children "Delilah". She was known as Lila or Lyle. Anyway, I believe
pretty strongly that he was James father. Reason had at least two other brothers who
lived in the same county. I am still researching this.
I have pictures of several of our ancestors such as James Cawley b. 1800, and his son,
John Cawley b. 1824. Dicey Rhodes Little, the Little Brothers - William Henry Little (our
ancestor) and his brothers, John Zachary Little and Adam Mack Little. I also have a
family portrait of William Henry Little and Mary Elizabeth Inglett (Parents of Sarah Felt
Little).
Also, about 6 years ago, a man wrote to me asking about John Cawley (b. 1824). He had
found an old sideboard made by John in an abandoned family house in Hepzibah Georgia. He
wouldn't sell it to me, but sent me pictures of the old sideboard painted with red
milk paint.
Anyway, I will send you anything you would like. Just let me know.
