This is all fascinating. I am descended from Moses I and have the lineage down from him.
When my line came to America in about 1750 from Northern Ireland, though orginally from
Scotland, they settled for a time in Paxtang, Pennsylvania, but eventually headed out to
Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and then Texas. In Wheelock, Texas, not far
from Bryan-College Station, there is the old Cavitt home (changed to 'i' somewhere
around Richard). It was built by Ann Cavett Cavitt (she married a cousin). Her husband,
Andrew Cavitt died in 1836 on the move from Tennessee to Texas, leaving Ann to raise seven
sons. Of the seven sons, five died fairly young, one in the Civil War. Only two of the
sons had families, but they produced 25 children! To further complicate matters, Ann then
married Andrew's nephew, Anthony Cavitt Armstrong, who used Cavitt as his first name!
They had one son.
I have photos of some of those people.--
