fine family.

Waco, Texas
Dear Sheridan:
I was delighted to get your letter of January 4., and it has been my
purpose to get together a lot of information which I have on our family
history., but I have been swamped with work and have not done so. Tell
Ellen, that I will have something for her this week.
In.the meantime, as you mentioned, William C. Spark's second wife was
Jane Alexander, and their children were Clara Jane, John Alexander,
Elijah, William C., Jr., Minerva and Sam Alexander. You are in error as
to my grandfather. He was Sam Alexander Sparks. Sam Alexander Spark's
wife, (my grandmother) was a Fisher. She had considerable Indian Blood
in her and was an offspring of Indian Chief Kingfisher of the Indian
territory. Sam Alexander Sparks and Mary Sparks had the following
children:
John Elijah Sparks (my father), died at my home in Easland in 1949,
Dr. George Sparks, who died in Sweetwater, Texas, in 1908,
Fannie Sparks Bigham, wife of Newt Bigham, died in Bell County almost
twenty years ago.
Mollie Sparks Graves, wife of Ed Graves, died in Bell County 15 years
ago. Buried in Belton Cemetery,
Bess Sparks McElroy, 89 years of age, has retired to and is living in
Methodist Weslyn Home at Georgetown, Texas,
Clara Sparks Bruce, has been dead many years,
Annie Sparks Morgan is living in California with her children. I do not
have her address,
Crockett Sparks, died without issue in 1903.
I could give you the names of all the above Sparks' childrens' children,
but it
would be a little long.
My father, John Elijah, married Betty Levy, and they had five children
living:
Edgar Sparks, House, New Mexico,
Frank Sparks, Eastland, Texas,
Sam Elijah Sparks, Ft. Sumner, New Mexico,
Polly Sparks Milburn, Clovis, New Mexico
Crockett Jackson Sparks, Portales, New Mexico.
I think of you quite often, but I have about quit going to our "Old
Soldier Reunion" because we do not look much like soldiers any more. My
beautiful daughter Patsy Butler, married an A. & M. graduate and they
live at Bryan, Texas.
