Have you tried the National Archives?? If there is a state adjutant
general's office, you could try it.

For some time now, I have been trying to locate the Civil War papers of
Emmet
D. Cavett of Noxubee County, Misissippi., who was a member of the
19th
Mississippi Infantry (I am writing a history of that unit). So far, no
luck.
I know there were some of his letters still in existence as late as
1941,
since an article in The Journal of Mississippi History, No.3 (1941), pp.
289-296 was based on one such letter.
Would anyone by chance know what happened to his letters or know who may
know
this information? I have written to various libraries and
historical
societies in Noxubee County and to the Mississippi Archives about this
but no
luck. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
