There was an Alexander Cavitt in the Natchez Territory who was very active in
securing Texas for the US; he was associated with James Long. Any connection
to this family? Kate

The Alexander Cavett massacred in the Cavett Station raid was the
grandson of Moses Cavett (1684-1750). His father was Richard Cavitt
born (1727-1789).
Sibs of the murdered Alexander were: Moses, Richard (1749-1819) George,
Michael (1747-1821), Catherine, Alexander, and John (1736-1764).
In 1793 Richard and Michael Cavett were living on property in Sumner
County, TN that Alexander Cavett owned.
The 1789 tax records for Sumner County list both Richard and Michael.
Catherine was listed in Sumner County tax records for 1821. (Sumner
County Genweb)
The Cavett Station property was inherited by the brothers Moses, George,
and Alexander. (Knox County Court records, as reported by John Bryan)
