Howard:
I may have been premature in nominating a son of Patrick Cavit as the
William Cavet who purchased several things at his cousin Moses Cavett's
estate sale in1802.
I have located Patrick's Will (written August, 1824, probated January
1835). Son William, who was named co executor, was living at home with
his parents - apparently unmarried. However, home in 1824 was in
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (the Pittsburgh area). Knoxville, TN, and
Pittsburgh, PA, are nearly 500 miles apart. Surely, this William Cavet
wouldn't have bought all that livestock from the estate if he lived 500
miles north. So either he was living within hog-driving range at the
time or was not same William C. who attended the sale. JKB
