has pieced together some very interesting events and
relationships from his own research, certainly adding to
that which was already known.
Howard, do I understand correctly that your Thomas
Cavett was a brother of Alexander Cavitt? Have you
been able to identify all/most of the children of Moses and
Agnes Meetch Cavitt? (Please excuse any misspellings; I
am doing this between movings of the sprinkler.)
A few years ago, a descendant of Nancy Cavette and Jospeh Lones lived on the
section of the original tract of land that had been the site of Cavitt
Station. He very graciously showed me around the area.

been assembled from Knox County, TN records. Spelling of the surname is

appears in the Knox County records. He was the son of Moses and Agnes

Meetch Cavett, and was born circa 1786 while they lived in Sullivan
County,
TN. He would have been about nine years old when the family moved to Knox
County.
In 1806 Thomas Cavett married Mary Neff.
Thomas Caveat is listed in the 1808 Knox County, TN Tax List, no land, one
poll, Captain Cliff's Company. Thomas is listed directly after Agnes.
Thomas Caveat is listed in the 1809 Knox County, TN Tax List, no land, one
poll, Captain Cliff's Company. Thomas is listed some distance from Agnes.
Thomas Caveat for Moses Caveat Estate is listed in the 1811 Knox County,
TN
Tax List, 640 acres of land, one poll, Captain Ayges' Company. Agnes is
not
listed.
Thomas Caveat was chosen to serve on a grand jury in Knox County, TN on

Thomas Cavitt for Moses Cavitt Estate is listed in the 1812 Knox County,
TN
Tax List, 640 acres of land, no poll, Captain French's Company. Agnes is
not
listed.
Thomas Cavett was commissioned as a Lieutenant on 8/3/1812 in the 40th
Regiment of the Tennessee Militia in Knox County, TN, under Captain
French.
On 10/8/1812, Thomas Cavett served on the jury in William C. Mynatt v.

In 1813, Thomas Cavett commenced the process of buying out his brothers
and
sisters interests in the 640-acre tract of land in Knox County, TN that
Moses
Cavett inherited from his brother, Alexander Cavett. It would eventually

more than ten years to assemble full ownership.
On 1/14/1813, Thomas Caveat purchased the heirship interest of his
brother,
John Caveat, in the 640-acre tract of land in Knox County that Moses

On 11/20/1824, Thomas Cavett of Knox County, TN sold the 640-acre Moses
Cavett tract of land on Big Sinking Creek in Knox County, TN to Joseph
Lones of
Knox County, TN for $2,500.00. From: Knox County, TN Warranty Deed Book
T, Vol.
1, page 173. Joseph and Nancy Cavett Lones continued to live there the
remainder of their lives. Thomas Cavett appears to have left Knox County
shortly
after the sale.
For whatever it is worth (I have not researched what was behind this), I
ran
across the following: From the Nashville Banner and Nashville Daily
Advertiser on Wednesday, March 7, 1832, "Cavette, Mr. Thomas - died in
Madison County,
Virginia".
