Thanks for your excellent suggestion; the next time I'm in
Tennessee, I will check the land grants. What I have came
from "the" Cavitt book that Rita Bryant posted on this list
several years ago.

I am sorry, I cannot help you on this one. I suppose that you have
determined that it is not Richard Cavett's son, Richard Cavett, who died
unmarried and
intestate in 1808.
Have you checked the land records and Tax Lists for clues? If he obtained
the land by land grant it is possible that he entered the land some years
prior
to 1793.
