I am not a Cavitt desendent but I am interested in locating any information
about Captain Moses Cavitt's company of militia during the revolution. The
company was from the Sullivan Co area of NC (later Tn) in the command of Col.
Isaac Shelby. They were part of the "Over Mountain Men" that participated in
the battle at Kings Mountain. I had an ancestor in Captain Moses Cavitt's
company and would appreciate any information about other men in this company,
or did any of the men or their wives draw a pension or bounty land. Can
anyone direct me as to where I might locate a muster roll for the company? I
look forward to your reply.
Bob
You should check some census records! There's a good shot they would
answer several of your questions.

We all have a brick wall on this one. According to a book written by Ellen
Burnett Cavitt your info is correct, but three is no proof that this family
existed.
Much of the information in her book is inaccurate.
