I am descended from Mary "Polly" Cavett, the daughter of Richard Cavett (b
@1763). She was born January 5, 1799. Mary Cavitt, my ggggrandmother,
married Isaac Taylor (b. July 17, 1792 in Campbell Station, Tennessee). They
lived in Pickens Cty, Alabama. I have not done as much research on this
name, but it seems I am related to most of the people on this list. I believe
my Richard Cavett was the only son who survived the massacre, simply because
he had already moved to Alabama. LilDebD(a)aol.com
[NOTE: For simplicity, I am using one spelling for all variations.}
I am descended from Mary Cavitt, the daughter of Richard Cavitt
(b.@ 1749). Mary Cavitt my gggggrandmother married William Lapsley
Armstrong (b. 1773 in Orange County, NC.), and they lived in Sumner/
Robertson County, TN.
Mary Cavitt Armstrong was the niece of the Alexander Cavett of the
1793 Cavett Station Massacre near Knoxville, TN.
One of their son's Cavitt Armstrong migrated to Wheelock,
(Robertson County) Texas in the 1830s. He later married Ann Cavitt
(b. in Knoxville, TN) who was the widow of Andrew Cavitt.
My current Cavitt research interests are:
(1) Names of spouses of early Cavitts;
(2) Identifying descendants of Ann and Cavitt Armstrong;
(3) Identifying the Andrew Cavitt who married Nancy Morrow
in Bullitt County, Kentucky on December 21, 1821. The
question here is: Was he the Andrew Cavett who married
Ann Cavitt in 1826?
(4) ANY information on the Cavett Station Massacre in 1793.
(5) European origins of Cavitts
OFFER TO SHARE:
