I am going to try to reach many of you this way for those of you who feel that they
descend from a William Caviness and Sarah Carr Caviness or those who even think that their
ancestor was Fredrick and Elizabeth Carr .I invite you to visit the Fanning genforum
.Then do a search of the name Carr. This should convince those of you who feel that Sarah
Carr is your ancestor that you are wrong ,Those of you who are under the inpression that
Fredricks wife was Elizabeth Carr (based on no evidence what so ever other than Fredrick
and his wife took in two children reportedly belonging to Fredricks nephew William
deceased and his wife Sarah in 1803 .after Sarahs death . There was no Elizabeth Carr in
this family .There was no reason to believe that she was a sister to Sarah .Perhaps there
was a connection if one ever identifies who Sarah was one could look at that possibility
.There is really no proof that Sarah is the widow of Matthews son William .I tend to think
she probably was . Whoever Sarah was she was not a Carr .She came from Mecklenburg Co Va
in 1799 with four children .Not the 7 that have been reported . four children . she would
not have been from the Randolph Co area of NC The Carrs had been in the area of Randolph
Co NC since the revolution . When whould a young man from Mecklenburg Co NC have married a
Randolph Co NC girl never mind she the fact that this Sarah Carr sister of William Carr
was married to David Fanning .
